Qigong on Wednesday Mornings
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical posture, breathing techniques and focused intention. Qi, pronounced chee, translates to mean life force or vital energy. This energy flows through everything in the universe. Gong, pronounced "kong", means skill or accomplishment. Together, Qigong, means to cultivate energy through consistent practice for maintaining health and increasing vitality.
Qigong can be done by everyone whether they are physically fit or physically challenged, and can be practiced regardless of age. Qigong is highly effective in improving health and vitality. The gentle, rhythmic movements reduces stress, builds stamina, increases vitality, and enhances the immune system. It improves the cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive systems.
Qigong integrates physical movement with breath and focused attention to bring awareness to the body, the mind and the spirit. In this way Qigong is a wonderful practice aligning one to the body/mind/spirit connection.
